Light: Shadows and Reflections
About this chapter
Light: Shadows and Reflections is Chapter 11 of Class 7 Curiosity and the second physics chapter of upper primary Science. Through Keshav's visit to a Western Ghat village and the dance of fireflies, the chapter builds six core ideas — luminous and non-luminous objects, the rectilinear propagation of light, behaviour of light with transparent, translucent and opaque materials, shadow formation and its features, reflection by a plane mirror with image properties and lateral inversion, and image formation by a pinhole camera. It also introduces periscope and kaleidoscope as everyday applications. CTET Paper 2 Science tests this chapter most often through luminous-versus-non-luminous identification (Moon, Sun, mirror), shadow size with torch distance, lateral inversion of letters, and the inverted image of a pinhole camera. The four tests below — Practice 15 Q, Quiz 15 Q, Hard 15 Q, Mastery 30 Q — cover every section at the right depth.
