Light: Mirrors and Lenses
About this chapter
Light: Mirrors and Lenses is Chapter 10 of Class 8 Curiosity and the third physics chapter in upper primary Science. Through Meena's science-centre visit, the chapter builds on the Class 7 plane-mirror story and introduces six core ideas — spherical mirrors and their two types (concave and convex), the image characteristics each mirror forms, the two laws of reflection (angle of incidence equals angle of reflection; incident ray, normal and reflected ray lie in the same plane), the behaviour of parallel beams on plane, concave and convex mirrors (converge versus diverge), solar concentrators, and lenses (convex/converging and concave/diverging) with their image properties and everyday uses. CTET Paper 2 Science tests this chapter most often through concave-versus-convex mirror identification, side-view mirror reasoning, equal angles of incidence and reflection, the dentist's and headlight reflectors, magnifying glass as a convex lens, and assertion–reason items on the wider field of view. The four tests below — Practice 15 Q, Quiz 15 Q, Hard 15 Q, Mastery 30 Q — cover every section at the right depth.
