The Ever-Evolving World of Science
About this chapter
The Ever-Evolving World of Science is the opening chapter of Class 7 Curiosity. It is not content-heavy — it is an invitation. The chapter sets the tone for the year: science is a process of asking questions, doing experiments and being open to the unknown, not just memorising facts. It previews the threads the book will follow — properties of materials, metals and non-metals, reversible and irreversible changes, heat flow, the water cycle, life processes in plants and animals, growth in middle-school bodies, time and speed, light and shadows, eclipses, day and night, and the motions of Earth and Moon. The page-number motif (butterfly and paper plane) reminds learners that learning takes flight when curiosity leads. Activity 1.1 ('Question the Answer') flips the usual classroom direction: given an answer, ask a creative question. CTET Paper 2 Science tests this chapter on the nature of science, the inquiry cycle, branches of science and pedagogy — divergent questioning, curiosity, experimentation and constructivism. The four tests — Practice 15, Quiz 15, Hard 15, Mastery 30 — cover these threads at exam depth.
